Fresh from her historic title run in Guadalajara, Alex Eala continued her strong momentum by cruising past France’s Yasmine Mansouri in the first round of the 2025 SP Open, winning 6–0, 6–2 in just over an hour on Tuesday.
Now ranked a career-high world No. 61 and seeded third in the tournament, the 20-year-old Filipina showed no signs of slowing down against Mansouri, the world No. 380 and fourth seed in qualifying. Eala dominated from the baseline and punished Mansouri’s inconsistent serve, racing through the first set with a flawless 6–0 sweep.
Mansouri managed to get on the board in the second set, but Eala’s consistency on serve and sharp returns sealed the match. Statistically, the Filipina proved superior, winning 83% of her second-serve points in the second set compared to Mansouri’s 31%, while also converting five of ten break points overall.
The match lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, with Eala tallying 65 total points won against Mansouri’s 35.
With the win, Eala advances to the second round, where she will face Argentina’s Julia Riera (world No. 188). A victory there would move her closer to a potential deep run in her first tournament since becoming the first Filipino to win a WTA title.
