Pinay tennis star Alex Eala, naabak iti doubles ti manarimaan a Wimbledon idiay England

Alex Eala wants to stay longer in London as she is set to make her Wimbledon doubles debut with Germany’s Eva Lys against Quinn Gleason and Ingrid Martins.

After a tough opening-round exit in singles, Alex Eala is looking for a rebound as she makes her Wimbledon women’s doubles debut on Thursday, July 3 at 7:10 p.m. (Manila time), pairing up with Germany’s Eva Lys against the replacement tandem of Quinn Gleason of the United States and Ingrid Martins of Brazil.

Eala, currently ranked No. 155 in doubles and No. 56 in singles, is eyeing a fresh start on the grass court after falling to defending champion Barbora Krejcíková in three sets in the singles draw earlier this week.

The 20-year-old Filipina teams up with Lys, the World No. 61 in singles, who is still in the hunt for a deeper singles run after advancing to the second round.

The duo were originally slated to face the formidable team of Olga Danilovic and Anastasia Potapova, but a late withdrawal forced a reshuffle.

Their new opponents, Gleason and Martins, may have entered the draw as replacements, but come in with solid chemistry and momentum—winning a recent doubles title together at the Città di Grado Tennis Cup.

For Eala, it’s another big stage to test her growing confidence and experience in doubles, where she is currently 42-37. Thursday’s match offers both her and Lys a chance to build rhythm and chase a breakthrough in their Wimbledon campaign.
